Zanaflex is a medication used to treat muscle spasms and increased muscle tone. These characteristics are usually observed among people experiencing spasticity.

Usages

Directions for Intake:

• Zanaflex is taken orally, as often as indicated in the prescription of your doctor
• Can be taken up to three times a day with six to eight hours in between dosage intakes
• Finish the entire amount that was prescribed even after beginning to feel better
• Take any missed dose as soon as it is remembered. However, do not double the dosage of your medication at any particular assigned time
• In case of overdosing, seek medical attention immediately

Directions for Storage:

• Store this medication in a place away from moist, light and extreme heat
• The appropriate temperature for the storage area is between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 to 30 degrees Celsius
• Also choose a storage area that is not easily accessible to children

Side Effects

• Mild side effects of using this medication include drowsiness or dizziness, numbness or tingling in some areas of the body, diarrhea or constipation, dryness of the mouth, sweating, and skin rash
• Serious side effects include fainting, slow heart rate, confusion or hallucinations, stomach pain, nausea, pain or burning sensation when urinating, jaundice
• Zanaflex may cause an allergic reaction to some users

Warnings

Precautions:

• Consult your doctor before taking Zanaflex. Make sure to give your doctor a complete background of your medical history
• Inform your physician of any other prescription or over-the-counter medications that you’re currently taking, especially the following medications: antidepressant fluvoxamine, antibiotic ciprofloxacin, acyclovir, cimetidine, famotidine, ticlopidine, zileuton, birth control pills, certain antibiotics, blood pressure medications, and heart rhythm medications
• Inform your physician of any previous or present experience of having liver or kidney problems, unusually high or low blood pressure, and allergic reactions to certain medications
• This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Activities that require you to be alert (i.e. driving or operating heavy machineries) should be avoided
• If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant, consult your doctor before taking Zanaflex
• If you are lactating, it may be harmful to use Zanaflex
